My mother was Martha Louise Dowden, daughter of William Elisha Dowden and Elizabeth Rivers Presley. Elizabeth Rivers Presley, was the daughter of Andrew Lambert Presley b. 1876 at Fort Jesup, La. and Miram Hortense Harrell. My grandfather was the Post Master of Gandy Post Office and the Superintendent of Schools there. His father was Francis Asberry Dowden and his mother was Elizabeth Eglintine Self the daughter of Samuel Elisha Self and Sophronia La Dusky Phifer. Samuel was the son of David Washington Self and Elizabeth Letitia Sibley. David Washington Self joined the Confederate Army as Captain and later became Major. He was in Company 'B' 17th Louisiana Infantry Regiment, Field & Staff. The company from Sabine Parish Louisiana was known as the Sabine Rebels. He was present for muster call on Sept 30, 1861. March and April 1862 absent for a wound he received near Vicksburg, Miss. July 4, 1862 roll of prisoners of war captured near Vicksburg, Miss. David Washington Self received a field commission to Major May 21, 1862. Appeared on a federal report of killed, wounded and missing for 6th & 7th of April 1862.

My father Louis Lindy McReynolds was b. to Theodore Emerald McReynolds and Hazel Nancy Jane Fagg. Theodore was the son of Henry Burton McReynolds and Georgia Green. Henry Burton McReynolds was the son of John D. McREYNOLDS who served the CSA from the state of Arkansas in Co., B & I, 1st Arkansas Mounted Rifles.
